A Mega Warrior Smoothie for Endurance and Energy

Sunwarrior Protein in The Organic Beauty

One look at my Instagram feed, and it’s pretty obvious that green smoothies are my top pick for breakfast.  I probably rock one of these puppies 5 out of 7 days a week in the warmer months, and only slightly less often when the weather cools. My green smoothies have a whole huge salad’s worth of greens, loading my body up with iron and folate, lots of healthy fats in the form of coconut oil and almond butter, omegas in the form of chia seeds, antioxidants and tons of vitamins in the form of berries, and a heaping dose of protein in powder form. Naturally, I’m always on the hunt for the best protein powders and get super pumped when I discover a new one.

Enter: Sun Warrior. I knew the brand from years ago, when they primarily made rice protein powder, so I was excited to discover their whole new line of raw, organic, vegan protein powders, green powders, and smoothie boosting supplements that don’t mess around.  The new line has something for everyone — from the health conscious yogi or time and sleep-deprived mom, to the hardcore athlete or the average person looking to lose weight.

The Classic Plus Protein is a great place to start.  This mega protein powder builds on the original Sunwarrior rice protein by adding powerful pea, chia, amaranth and quinoa — upping the amino acid and omega content substantially. It’s amazing for repairing muscle and increasing endurance, but for the average non-athlete, it keeps you full, balances blood sugar, and loads your body up with energy for the whole day.  It comes in natural, vanilla, or chocolate flavors, and is sweetened with stevia, making it sugar-free!

For those who are still a little scared of whole grains, or who have a super sensitive digestive tract, there’s the Warrior Blend. This nutrient powerhouse formula uses raw pea, cranberry and hemp seed protein instead of their traditional grain-based formula, which is awesome for boosting immunity, fighting candida, and improving mental clarity.

Both formulas are vegan, raw, organic, and gluten-free.

Once you’ve got your protein base in place, it’s time to bump up the nutrient factor in your powerhouse smoothie.

To maximize nutrients, I recommend that smoothies be at least 50% greens (to 50% fruit). If you’re a veteran green smoothie drinker, you can bump that percentage up to 60/40! My favorite smoothie greens are spinach and baby kale.  For fruit, the sky is the limit — any and all fruits are fair game, as long as they don’t make up more than 50% of the smoothie. My favorites are berries, for their major antioxidant potential. Organic strawberries, blueberries, blackberries — these are all awesome smoothie buddies.  I also usually add a banana for potassium. It’s also super important to add healthy fats like almond butter and coconut oil for added energy, blood sugar stabilization, and their major slimming potential. Most people that claim to get hungry really soon after drinking a smoothie for breakfast just don’t have enough healthy fat and protein in their blended drink!

To add even more nutritional punch to your morning smoothies, Sunwarrior has you covered yet again. Their Raw Organic Ormus Supergreen Powder is an amazing way to add even more alkalizing, detoxifying goodness to your smoothie. Loaded with alfalfa, barley grass, wheat grass, oat grass, parsley, and moringa, with added enzymes and probiotics, this blend is amazing for digestion as well!

To enhance energy, endurance and detoxification even further, try adding the Liquid Light Fulvic Acid, with over 72 trace minerals and elements that help the body in digestion, assimilation and absorption of nutrients, and reducing acidity (high levels of which are a precursor to cancer and disease).

Want to know how to put it all together? Here’s my recipe.. Try it every morning for a week, and just see how phenomenal you look and feel!
