Organic Beauty Pick: Simply Divine Botanicals

Since I received some samples of these products in a gift bag from Pure Food and Wine, I have been completely obsessed with the skincare line from Simply Botanicals.  Master Herbalist and Natural Healer, Barbara Rogers creates all natural, synthetic and chemical free products for face and body that feature ingredients like Organic Aloe-Vera, White Kaolin Clay, potent extracts of various fruits and herbs, CoQ-10, and that major cure-all, seaweed.  My two favorite products (that I regularly use myself) are the Black Velvet Foaming Facial Cleanser and the Amazing Face Rejuvinating Moisturizer.

I like to use Black Velvet in the shower as a really deep, pore minimizing cleanser.  It manages breakouts and sops up oil without over-drying, and is chock full of super beneficial ingredients like seaweed, avocado, magnesium, and MSM (which, in addition to its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging benefits, is also a vital source of sulfur, which is essential to maintaining skin’s elasticity and cell-wall respiration).

Amazing Face is a truly incredibly moisturizer that I use every day.  The luxurious formula is super thick, but absorbs almost instantly into my naturally oily skin.  With a slew of beneficial ingredients that include Bulgarian Rosewater (known for its remarkable toning and anti-aging benefits), Liposome Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and enough natural oils, herbs, and fruit extracts to make you want to eat the thing.  Miraculously, it also has been known to completely cure pesky perioral dermatitis (dry, red skin around your mouth and nose).

In addition to the markedly improving your skin, smelling absolutely divine, and featuring a lot of organic components, Simply Botanicals products also follow my golden rule of clear, recognizable ingredients (see Step One of “5 Steps to Naturalizing Your Life”)… if you can’t pronounce it, chances are you don’t want it on or in your body!

Simply Botanicals products are available at Health Food and Natural Markets all over the country, as well as through their website.
