Skincare Good Enough to Eat!
My mantra when it comes to skincare is: If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your face.
Now, obviously I can’t stay true to this all of the time (sometimes a pimple requires a bit stronger action), and I’m certainly not advocating eating your face wash. But making sure that everything you put on your skin is natural, and preferably organic, leads to not just radiant, glowing skin, but a healthy and balanced body.
I’m happy to say that at this point, about 90% of my skincare routine is pretty much good enough to eat! And a lot of that is thanks to the amazing natural beauty line, Botanic Organic. I’ve been using their line of all natural, unrefined products for a few months now, and I have to say, I’m obsessed. Best of all, the whole line is totally affordable, so you don’t have to pay and arm and a leg for high quality, natural products!
The Best of Natural Makeup
As the weather cools and our summer tans inevitably fade, it’s time to step things up a bit when it comes to makeup. But wearing a bit more does NOT mean slathering our skin with toxic and pore-clogging chemicals.
I’ve made it my mission to find the most effective natural makeup out there, and I’m super excited to share my favorites with you guys! These natural beauties boast some awesome ingredients, without the dangerous chemicals you’ll find in most drugstore brands…and without ever sacrificing results!
All of the selections below are formulated without:
- parabens
- mineral oils
- phthalates
- sodium lauryl sulfates
- BHT
It’s important to note that not all products from the suggested natural makeup lines below are created equal. Just because they make a good lipgloss, doesn’t mean that their mascara is chemical-free. As always, make sure to read your ingredients, with a particularly keen eye towards the big bad additives listed above. If you’re ever in doubt, enter the product into the EWG Skin Deep Database to see it’s safety score. All of the products listed below rate under 2 on a 10 point scale (0 being the safest).
2 Multipurpose Products for Gorgeous Skin and Hair
Being a bit of a lazy girl, I am all about easy, multipurpose products. And I get even more excited when these amazing do-it-all products work even better than the 20 individual things they can completely replace.
Argana Vita makes just two amazing products, but these puppies are so powerful, effective, and versatile that you can literally toss out half the content of your bathroom!

5 Tips to Grow out Your Healthy Hair
I don’t know about you, but I think long luscious locks are totally timeless… the perfect accessory. But growing out your tresses can be tough if you’re dealing with dry, damaged hair that breaks and splits. I’ve dealt with this myself since I was a teenager and first starting coloring my hair. But I’m happy to report that I’ve nailed down the perfect recipe for stronger, healthier, shinier hair that grows out beautifully. As with everything, it takes a holistic approach, inside and out!
Handcrafted Ayurvedic Oils for Natural Beauty
If you’ve been reading The Organic Beauty for awhile, you know that my number one secret for gorgeous skin and hair is oil. I use it to wash my face, moisturize my skin, and condition my hair (among many other beauty tricks). Being a slightly lazy organic beauty, I opt for simplicity — pure jojoba, argan, and coconut oils. But simple can definitely get a little boring.

GP: My Natural Beauty Skinspiration
A weird thing started happening when I reached my 30’s: Instead of layering on the anti-aging products and slathering on more makeup to simulate my teenage skin, I found myself opting for a much more natural makeup look and and a more simplified beauty routine. Gone are my black rimmed eyes and foundations. No more do I turn to multi-step systems with harsh cleansers, gels and creams. And guess what? Not only does my skin look way better than it did when I was 20, but I also feel way more confident that the products I do use are going to actually improve the health and quality of my skin, in addition to its appearance.
One of my icons in this transition has been Gwyneth Paltrow, who has long been the face of fresh-skinned, glowing, natural beauty. You’ll seldom see her walking the red carpet with a heavy, done-up look. She’ll typically focus on one area of her face to emphasize for a more dramatic look (bold lips, with muted eyes; or smoky eyes with a nude lips), but more often than not, she’s seen about town with gorgeous, natural-looking eyes, a peachy blush, and some lip gloss. The epitome of natural gorgeousness.
I’ve taken a few pages from GP’s book in creating my daily skin care regimen. Check out my 6 daily steps to getting that natural, gorgeous glow:
