Organic Beauty Healthy Camping Essentials

Organic Beauty Camping

C

ontrary to the expectations of pretty much everyone who knows me well, I have become quite the little camper.  But being out in nature certainly does not mean giving up any of my ethos as an Organic Beauty.  I love finding great natural products that make staying beautiful and protected from the elements out in nature easy and effective.  I’m obsessed with finding healthier alternatives to typical camping foods.  And there is nothing better than creating an atmosphere of luxury and ease out among the trees.  I may rough it a bit, but that doesn’t mean making sacrifices.

Below are my healthy camping essentials that keep me living the Organic Beauty lifestyle, even while out in the middle of nowhere, with no running water.

5 Minute Bedtime Yoga Sequence for Sweeter Sleep

By: Natasha Uspensky, CHHC

Those of us who have spent torturous hours tossing and turning in bed, or who wake up in the middle of the night with a head full of thoughts unable to get back to sleep know the power of hitting the hay with a calm and restful mind. Though managing your stress throughout the day and having a really good pre-bedtime routine go a long way towards improving sleep in the longterm, you can commit to just 5 minutes of relaxing stretches to sleep better TONIGHT.

This sequence calms the mind and relaxes the body, priming you for a restful night.  Best of all, you can do it in bed… No mat required!  Spend at least one minute in each posture, though longer is better!

1. Seated Twist: This detoxifying posture helps with digestion (which in turn helps you sleep deeper) and calms the nervous system. Repeat on each side.

The Magic of Acupuncture with Mital Khatri

By: Natasha Uspensky, CHHC

I have long been a huge proponent of acupuncture.  I’ve been getting weekly treatments for the last 2 years, and consider it an absolutely necessary part of my self-care and holistic health.  I recommend it to so many of clients for so many different ailments, and have seen some pretty fantastical levels of improvement in both myself and those I work with.

I sat down with acupuncturist and RN, Mital Khatri, my friend and fellow holistic practitioner at Ethos Collective Wellness, to help demystify that magic that is acupuncture and answer some common questions I hear from clients and readers.  Mital specializes in helping her clients to restore balance in their bodies, and also in the natural anti-aging benefits of acupuncture!  A non-toxic, non-invasive alternative to injectables and cosmetic surgery?  I am SO in!

What would happen if you let go?

By: Natasha Uspensky, CHHC

What would happen if you let go? | The Organic Beauty Blog

What would happen if you let go of it?  Of the need to be perfect.  Of the fear of standing out. Of the plan. Of the self-criticism.  Of that crappy relationship or unfulfilling job.

A lot of my clients and readers who struggle with weight or their health are holding on to negative thought patterns, past experiences, or current habits that are holding them back.

When we’re in a place of “holding on,” our bodies and minds get a clear signal that we’re not safe. It’s not safe to lose the weight.  It’s not safe to get out of emergency mode and feel calm.  It’s not safe to put yourself out there.  It’s not safe to be happy.

Hugs Are The Cure for Lonely Hearts On Valentine’s

Hugs Are The Cure for Lonely Hearts On Valentine’s | The Organic Beauty Blog

Valentine’s Day can be such an upsetting holiday for single people. Especially, those of us who scour online dating sites, swiping left and then right hoping we may find true love, eventually. Some days (maybe even most days) it can feel fun and exciting; there are so many options! But then sometimes—like the week before, day before, even day of Valentine’s Day—online dating can feel exhausting, demoralizing, isolating and impersonal. Ironically, so, because traditionally, dating is meant to find romantic love where the end goal results in a sense of belonging and attachment. We all want that, right?

I want that too and believe that we are all deserving of such things. Regardless of where you are at in your journey to finding love and companionship, I have a suggestion that will reap the same neurobiological benefits.

How to Hold on to That New Year’s Possibility

How to Hold on to That New Year’s Possibility | The Organic Beauty Blog

“If happiness always depends on something expected in the future, we are chasing a will-o’-the-wisp that ever eludes our grasp, until the future, and ourselves vanish…” – Alan Watts

“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The New Year is a beautiful conceit. Across cultures, it’s a period reserved for expansion of the self. At the drop of a ball, we celebrate pure Possibility, with open hearts and minds. We pretty much all align ourselves accordingly: start on resolutions, compare lists with friends, refresh those horoscope pages…!

We’re happy to. Maybe simply, we have the time.

Boost Your Winter Beauty!

Boost Your Winter Beauty! | The Organic Beauty Blog

Winter has a habit of increasing the puff factor. Both in terms of unwieldy coats and under-eye regions. For as much as there’s a romantic side to the holiday season, not everything seems so peace-on-earth these days (is it me?). At least in my own life, basically everyone is constantly freezing, frenetic with holiday shopping/budgeting, and wishing for the hibernating life…  so why not expedite energizing our best snowbunny selves? Some everyday habits can help bring joy back to your wintry personal world.

The Power of Noble Silence

The Power of Noble Silence

By: Natasha Uspensky, CHHC

Happy Fall!!  Here in New York, we had our first truly chilly day today, and it really made me want to curl up with a book and a huge pot of tea, and put off all the work I had to.  I obviously couldn’t quite make that happen today, but the feeling reminded me that I need to slow down, chillax, and take some time for myself.
